I LOVED hominy flakes and would just love to find someplace to buy them. Does anyone make them any more? I've Googled, I've Binged, I've Yahooed. I've found recipes using hominy flakes that were printed in a 1906 cook book. And do you think younger generations even KNOW what hominy flakes might be? They're clueless. LOL
hmmmmm... I suppose I could slice hominy, dry it, store it, and then when I am in the mood for hominy flakes cook some up. LOL or not.
Try a food coop store. Here in the Midwest we have a lot of Amish and Mennonites and they have bulk food stores that sell them.
ReplyDeleteReally! I will have to look into that!! Yes! Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteI have just heard of hominy flakes my stepmother was talking of them yesterday and said she would like to have some.I would like to surprise her with some she is a very special lady and is having a hard time taking care of my very ill Dad.I like to do something special for her.If anyone knows where I can find these please e-mail me at,imahappykooker@gmail.com
ReplyDeletesame story here. My daughters grandmother-in-law is asking for them also. did you locate a supplier? let me know
DeleteI have asked around. We have a good sized community of Amish in southeastern Indiana. Everyone I asked said, they make their own hominy, but no hominy flakes. The only thing I've found is that someone has a ready market with so many people looking for dried hominy flakes and nobody finding them. I remember them from my childhood and my nephew is also searching. A great and different taste sensation.
DeleteDid anyone find them? I am looking for them for my 85-year-old father-in-law for Christmas and I am determined to find them! As someone said in March, there seems to be a market for them!
DeleteI need them also for my grandmother. If anyone locates them please let me know. she really wants them and I have been unable to locate any. lmccann@ankabhi.og
ReplyDeleteGoya does make them. They are not called hominy flakes, and you can find them in most Mexican grocery stores.
ReplyDeleteThis Goya hominy is not flaked though, Right?

If anyone above ever found any Flaked Hominy, I too am looking for some to give to my mom. She said it was so delicious, when she at that as a child. I, personally, have never had any...but would love to try as well.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother purchased them in a clear bag. Not sure who produced them but she lived in the Nashville area (Springfield) and they came through a local grocer. But I haven't found any and I've been looking for decades.
